How Rahman succeeded, reveals Rajiv Menon!


“Rahman not only had the best of musical talents, he was also able to adapt to the latest digital technologies in his works,” said Rajiv Menon. He was addressing a niche audience, today, November 19, 2009, the second day of the two-day long FICCI Media and Entertainment Business Conclave in Chennai. Rajiv spoke on the topic ‘Redefining Film Making: Crossing new frontiers in digital’. The session also saw eminent personalities from the business including Bill Lovell, Digital Media Head, ARRI Media, Balaji Gopal, Digital Cinema Designer, Richard Cardran, Media Strategist and Ravi Velhal, Content Policy and Standards Strategist, Intel.

Rajeev drew references from Rahman’s career to demonstrate that the success of a creator lies in adapting himself to the latest technical advancements. While referring to his stand in digital technology, Rajiv said that he is ‘married to film but in love with digital’.

The session also introduced the latest in digital technology including cameras and other equipments. In his brief address, Richard Cardran screened a short movie titled ‘escape from city – 17’ made by two brothers of Canadian origin. The movie’s amazing special effects, he said, was adapted from few video games and that the entire project only cost under US$ 500 for the producers. The gathering ended with a Q & A chat session.
