South superstar Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Endhiran, which was previously titled Robot, has roped in acclaimed Chinese stunt coordinator Woo-ping Yuen to supervise the action stunts of the film.
Sixty-three-year-old Yuen, also an actor and director, has been instrumental in creating some of the most memorable action stunts in films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon that had Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh, Uma Thurman’s Kill Bill films, The Matrix series starring Keanu Reeves and The Forbidden Kingdom, which had Jet Li and Jackie Chan in it.

expected to release on April  14, 2010.

Can Narahashi be a cue for Mohanlal?

That Mohanlal will be doing a Malayalam and Japanese bilingual film with Jackie Chan has been in the news for a while. Now, the pre-production activities of the movie have picked up speed and Mohanlal will be leaving for Japan soon to meet with Jackie Chan. The movie, titled Nair San, is based on the life of Madhavan Nair who was behind many
Mohanlal
rebel movements in Japan in support of the Indian freedom struggle. He used to carry out guerrilla attacks on the British.

The movie will be directed by Albert and A.R. Rahman has tentatively agreed to compose the music for the film. Other details are being worked out. Meanwhile, Mohanlal recently said that the movie will be launched soon. He has given bulk dates of around 150 days for the movie, among the largest that he has allotted for any movie in his career. When asked whether Jackie Chan was in the movie just to add to its star value, Mohanlal said that Jackie Chan played a very key character in the movie and that he was also well known in Japan and around the world only helped matters. He also added that speaking Japanese is a challenging task for anyone. When it comes from a man who has won two national awards, a president’s special recognition and a Padmashree, we know it will be really tough. Maybe he could take a cue or two from Shinghen Narahashi.

Mohanlal, Jackie Chan to act in a film

Actors Mohanlal and Jackie Chan will act together in a Japanese film “Nair San.” The shooting will begin shortly, say industry sources.

The film will be directed by Albert, an alumnus of the Tamil Nadu Film and Television Institute in Chennai.

“Nair San” is the story of a freedom fighter of Indian origin in Japan. Born to a Tamil father and a Malayalee mother, he grew up and fought for the freedom of Asia and particularly India, during the imperialist supremacy of the British in the early to middle 1900. According to director Albert, whose debut film “Kanne Madanguka” was the recipient of three Kerala State awards and three debut directorial awards, freedom fighter Nair San was not hailed much in his own country but he is a revered icon in Japanese history and economy. The title role, Nair San, will be played by Mohanlal. Asked how he feels, Mohanlal said that he was overwhelmed to act in the title role.

Jackie Chan has consented to do a cameo in the film. He has also agreed to choreograph the fight sequences. The camera is to be handled by Vaidy S. and the A.R.Rahman is expected to score the music.

The first schedule of the film featuring Mohanlal and Jackie Chan will start in Mongolian deserts in the first week of September

Rajinikanth in comics

The superstar’s fame is reaching sky high. He was on T-shirts (in U.S., it is a rage to wear T-shirts with depicting Rajni after a pop artist started this trend few years ago; it is catching up again now), footage related to his film were featured in foreign films (French film PrĂȘte-moi Ta Main), so many film personalities acted as his fans in their films, and so many heroes declared they are his fans and modelling their lives after him. It is needless to mention his fanfare throughout the world. Soon, he will be in COMICS!

Yes! This is the idea of a Chennai-based artiste Gaman, who heads a publication company called Krea Comics. Earlier, Gaman conceptualised a project and created some designs and illustration based on Sivaji’s Rajinikanth and discussed this idea with the producers of Sivaji, but the project did not take off. Now, he has created another prototype of his project and is in touch with the makers of Robot. Pretty soon, the results will be out. And it looks like this time, it is going to be a positive result.

So, pretty soon, we will get to see our superstar in comic books. This is a very rare and incredible achievement for any star. Though films are bigger than comic books and video games, an actor’s fame is considered to have reached its highest point if he or she is featured in a comic book or a video game or a cartoon. It shows their iconic status. In the West, only the likes of Arnold Schwarzenneger and Bruce Willis have achieved it. In Asia, Jackie Chan had been featured in a cartoon called “The adventures of Jackie Chan”. In India, Neetu Chandra (she acts alongside Madhavan in Yavarum Nalam) is featured in a 3D mobile game which is a tremendous achievement by her.

Managing Director, Sony BMG India, Shridhar Subramaniam said, "It is a privilege for us to enter the Tamil music market with a project as grand and special as Dasavatharam. Being associated with Kamal Haasan and Oscar Ravichandiran in our very first Tamil project says a lot about the equity of Sony BMG, even in the markets, where our presence has not been significant till now. Dasavadharam is a very special beginning to the things to come and it shows our commitment to be a serious long-term player in this market. Sony BMG has always redefined the way music has been marketed, and we are looking forward to setting new standards here as well."

The press note released today further stated, "Dasavatharam is the most expected movie of the year 2008, features Kamal Haasan in ten different roles, countered by the heroine Asin's dual role in the movie.
