Mani’s night shifts for Raavan!

Now that Mani’s next movie is almost made official, more news about the same is finding its way to the media. Latest in the series is that the movie would be shot extensively in night, a time of day Mani Ratnam is fond of. His earlier classic hits Thalapathy and Agni Nakshatram also have such shadowy, atmospheric scenes, courtesy Mani’s association with

P.C. Sriram. This one, however, would be cinematographed by Manikandan.

Said to be inspired by the Ramayana, Mani’s movie would be tentatively called Raavan with Abhishek and Aishwarya in the lead roles portraying Rama and Seetha. Vikram dons the sinister Villan’s role, playing Raavana. The movie also stars Prithviraj and Priya Mani and is bilingual with Rahman’s score.
