Mani Ratnam has announced his next project and the star cast is what the fans are eager to know about. And to make matters even more interesting Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Bachchan have been signed up as the lead pair. The director was scouting for another popular face to star in the film. And the hunt came to an end recently with
Mani Ratnam zeroing in on Sanjay Dutt. In fact, Sanjay had juggled his dates, which he had given for T-Series earlier, to accommodate this project. A few years ago, Sanjay and Aishwarya starred in a film titled Shabd but unfortunately the filmed bombed at the box office.

T-Series acquires the Music Rights of 20 films from UTV

This can probably be touted as one of the biggest landmark deals in the Indian Music industry, which has seen a resurgence over the past few months. According to reliable sources, music label major T-Series, run by music baron Bhushan Kumar, has acquired the music rights for 20 forthcoming films of UTV Motion Pictures at a whopping Rs. 27.50 crores, in what is arguably the biggest music deal in the industry.

Some of the major titles include Dilli 6 of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor at Rs. 5 crores, Main Aur Mrs Khanna starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor at Rs. 6 crores. It is learnt that two films starring Shahid Kapoor were closed at Rs. 3.5 crores each.

UTV Motion Pictures is one of India's largest integrated film studios and has had a record year at the box office in the current year, with films like Jodhaa Akbar and the critically acclaimed Aamir in recent times. The studio had ventured into the music business by launching its own label UTV Music with Jodhaa Akbar, however, had Sony BMG distributing Aamir and with this partnership has possibly entered into a strategic relationship with the leader in the industry, T-Series.

Music has been an integral component of Bollywood not just in terms of content, but indeed in marketing of the film and getting an encouraging opening. When Bollywood Hungama contacted T-Series to confirm and ask if their marketing initiatives had resulted in this acquisition, they refused to comment. We will be tracking this alliance and will have more for you very soon.

T-Series with an A.R.Rahman project again

When a company has the music rights of a film's songs composed by the Mozart of Asia A.R.Rahman, then there is no need to get worried about the success of sales of the music.

T-series is one company who is fortunate to associate with the music maestro back to back. After releasing the music of Aamir khan Productions 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' composed by ARR, now the company will release the music of 'Yuvaraj' composed by the music wizard.

This film marks the return of Subash Ghai after a low profile 'Black & White' into his usual way of directing his movies in a large scale.

The film which will be released this Diwali has also the paring of the real life couple Salman khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles other than having acclaimed actors like Anil Kapoor and Boman Irani in supporting roles.

The movie is produced by Subhash Ghai's own production company Mukta Arts Ltd.

The videos of the songs of 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' are already being aired by the different channels and have started getting good reviews.

How Salman shakes his leg to the tunes of A.R.Rahman in 'Yuvraj' is left to be seen.

GHAJINI rights for 71 crore, not 90!

A leading national daily and also a few portals have gone to town proclaiming that Aamir Khan's action bonanza, GHAJINI remake, has fetched Rs. 90 crores! That is far from the truth and we bring you the exact breakdown, as always.

The Indian Film Company, which also distributed WELCOME, has acquired the all-India rights of GHAJINI remake for Rs. 53 crore (including cost of print and publicity). The audio and home video rights have been sold to T-Series for Rs. 8.5 crore.

Similarly, the deal for Overseas had been struck with Adlabs for a reported price of Rs. 10 crore. That means, the all-world rights (excluding satellite rights) of GHAJINI remake have fetched Rs. 71.51 crore (and not Rs. 90 crore) for its producer, Alu Arvind.

The deal for satellite right has not been struck as yet, although at least five to six parties are in queue to acquire the same. If the satellite market remains as buoyant as it is presently, Rs. 15 crore to Rs. 20 crore is very much on the cards!
