A bungalow for Rajinikanth

Yes, as the title suggests, a bungalow is being bought, but not for the personal use of Rajinikanth; it is for the film Robot. This sprawling bungalow on the East Coast Road will be featured as Rajni’s residence in Robot.

The producers (Eros Multimedia and Ayngaran International) thought it would be costly to lease a bungalow for two years, considering that shooting will take place in there only sporadically. Besides, erecting a massive set and maintaining it for two years is even costlier. All this, coupled with the fact that a property on ECR is a big-time investment, has compelled them to think about buying the bungalow. It is said that the deal has been sealed and the bungalow will soon belong to the producers. It sure is a wise move by the producers.

Robot is the costliest Indian film so far. The budget allocated for this film is Rs. 120 crores. Aishwarya Rai will pair up with Rajinikanth in this film and her schedule problem (she is simultaneously acting in a Mani Ratnam film) has been sorted out with director Shankar, announcing a 2-month break during which she can prepare for and act in Mani Ratnam’s film.
